Erstwhile goer of places, doer of things. Frequent plaintiff, occasional defendant. The long moral arc ain't gonna bend itself.
Wilhoit's Law puts it succinctly:

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

Taylor Sheridan is a genius & treasure. Wind River was his directorial debut! Who does that?!? And Sicario was his debut as a screenwriter!

And if you haven't seen Hell or High Water (Sheridan's second screenplay) then I urge you to run not walk to your sofa and queue that thing right up posthaste.

I have some dear friends who work remotely in West Virginia. I'm thrilled that remote work makes that possible for them.

But the reason they're there - fantastic microbreweries aside - is because the local economic opportunity level is so low. That's a terrible reason to live somewhere!

Come on, let's not be willfully obtuse. Housing is more than just some four walls located wherever one can earn a living.

Productivity - not just at work but in general - is concentrated where people are. Building economic moats around population centers is optimizing for unproductive rent-seeking.

I do a slow burn every time I hear a centrist who doesn't understand fiscal policy complain about "leaving behind a massive debt for future generations to pay off" while the specific, actual debt their offspring will suffer hardest is paying for their home in a regime of artificial housing scarcity.

I doubt Trump thinks that. What's much more in his nature is that he's laying the groundwork to scapegoat Powell for the recession.

I've been noodling on the question of what would be the most socially beneficial way to dispose of the existing Tesla vehicle fleet.

Something that destroys their value in the market but still maximizes their utility. Relegating them to ride sharing fits that bill...

Pure speculation on my part, Marcus & co. most likely reverse-engineered the malware that the botnet ran on, identified some exploitable vulns in it, and... well, malware writers aren't the most careful programmers.

Heard the admin is pushing the term "Concentration Glamp"

Doing so would also send the signal to American businesses that bribing Trump for exemptions - which I GUARANTEE is his hope and ambition - won't solve their problem, because while Trump might be for sale, hopefully our trading partners' administrations are not.

With respect, it's allowed, but in actual practice, YMMV. My good friend @phil.mocek.org has some relevant firsthand expertise here ;)
