because aggressive redistricting spreads reliable conservative voters into more districts to try to pick up more, spreading them thin. If there's an energized and motivated wave from the left it risks them getting swept.

For real, watch nerds know that 99% of people will have no idea or care about what watch you’re wearing if it’s not an Apple Watch. I still buy the stupid things anyway.
