And there's other decks that just rely on outplaying instead of overpowering - Banette can block energizing the active pokemon, I've seen some Aerodactyl EX in play to snuff out evolution pokemon, and people are always messing with hands via Red Card and Copycat.

You don't always need big energy as there are some decks that are actually quite powerful despite being low energy with the right supporter cards. The new Ditto card also opens up a huge opportunity to do sneaky things. I'm currently running one with Passimian and Lycanrock.

Megas are currently popular, with Venusaur and Charizard being up there. As a result of that, pepole are running things like Altaria and support swarms for big damage with little investment, or Oricorio who can just block megas entirely.

As someone who plays the pocket game regularly, I'm actually in love with the simplified rules and quicker games. Every turn really matters when you have X amount of time to get your energy up before your opponent does. There's actually a wide variety of strategies I'm seeing.

I get that too. Nightmares just just never attending a class (not even the final) and turning out to need it to get my degree.

There was a tweet years ago that was something like "you'd have to be incredibly stupid to care which patch of dirt someone's parents fucked on" and that has always stuck with me
