I also recently dove into my first few King books! Havent tried any of his short story collections yet 🤔. Fairy Tale and Carrie were definitely misses for me but 'Salems Lot...

👎: The world is definitely original but sort of bland? I was expecting the rooms to be much more different than they actually are. Sort of getting a "backrooms" vibe from this without the creepypasta.

👍: Really impressed with how well paced this rather involved plot is being unraveled in such a short book. I guessed at what was going on relatively early but the unreliable narration has still been great fun and contained some great humor at times.

Exactly! The bonding system really works well for this.

Recently beat it a month ago. The "How to Train your Dominatrix" side quest was peak. That schoolyard scene I just can't 😂

Was very underwhelmed by Hades 1. Hades 2 is surprising me with how much I am enjoying it. I just like the mechanics, story and setting WAY more than #1. I'm trying to avoid burnout by limiting myself to a few runs a day, its been working pretty well ;).

Father Callahan and Mark Petrie were a ton of fun to read. Callahan's crisis of faith was fascinating to follow and I can see the beginnings of King's fluency in writing children PoVs in horror through Mark.

Easy recommendation.

This map I found online helped a lot hahaha.

Read the first 8 pages last night and I'm getting some heavy old school D&D megadungeon crawl vibes which is very intriguing for a book 👀. Maybe i should crack the grid paper out for this hahaha.

It really did exceed my expectations after reading Carrie and Fairy Tale both of which I thought were pretty mediocre.
