(Probably) irrational joy over these little fruity guys coming in the mail.
A collection of three hair clips, all shaped like fruit, lay on Halley’s kitchen counter. The largest, shaped like two lemons with leaves and blossoms, is a claw clip, the smallest, shaped like a cut open pomegranate is a mini claw clip, and the midsized one, shaped like blueberries, is a snap clip. Typically I won’t purchase singles on vinyl, but as Oh My God won’t be on the LP and because I love Jupiter Winter a stupid amount and want to support them, AND because it’s my anxiety anthem I still have 0 regrets.

My husband got the shingles, our normal folks to do the cooking couldn’t come, and my mom has 0 kitchen confidence, so I headed up the thanksgiving meal. It wasn’t traditional (because it doesn’t have to be). I’m proud of my mom for helping me out with this and rlly trying! I think we did okay 🤍

This hair dye brings me a stupid amount of joy; it fades so delightfully, hardly bleeds when it’s fresh, and holds better than any dye I’ve ever used. I meant to try different colors when I started again, but never moved past it. I will be devastated if Good Dye Young ever stops making Kowabunga.

Dyscalculia and hobbies like crochet aren’t the best combo, but I’ve been improving 🥲
Halley’s first attempts at crochet. They are very tightly woven green triangles that were supposed to be squares. Continued (messy) attempts of the beginnings of a very uneven rainbow scarf. Finally some improvement and a basic understanding of a single crochet. Completed slip stitch beanie on Halley’s head. The stitches are not as even as they could be, but she’s still happy.

Yesterday’s Friday 5x5. I’m… not into Life of a Showgirl so far. Actually had to switch to the clean version to give it a chance, which blows my mind. I never thought I’d have an issue with Taylor Swift’s lyrics, but here we are. Now… Syndicate is a damned masterpiece.

I made a friend today, and haven’t been able to stop thinking about it 🥺🥹

I feel like I should add, there was no poking or prodding in this. Mostly just watching and waiting. I have an awful memory from college of a stunned owl that then seized, and wanted to be sure to keep an eye on this guy.

I went out to give them a bird funeral (sadly, this happens a lot) and found he was stunned, not dead. Once we were open I started moving the Tupperware to the childrens porch so I could keep an eye on him. Hedecided it was time and he fluttered out of the container, perched on the fence about three feet away from me, and just stared at me for a good ten seconds before flying off. It felt like he was saying thank you 🥺”
