Congressman, you do not need to pretend like their 2020-21 criticisms were remotely reasonable after they've proven to you that they do not, and never did, believe in the kinds of "free speech" principles they claimed to hold when criticizing your party.

If I was arguing your side in good faith, I'd probably acknowledge that FSU being ranked as one of FIRE's top free speech schools that year is a pretty bad result undermining the list, and maybe the processes underneath need some work, instead of just calling everyone who points it out a moron

None of this is bad faith. You're right that I don't know how these things work, which is why I can sit here as an average guy and be baffled as to how an org that takes ranking schools by "free speech" seriously could *possibly* have come up with that result. How on earth is that normal?!

Well of course, for such a rigorous and scientific process, how could you let a minor detail like "new state law bans the teaching of undesirable political concepts" get in the way with months to spare. Inconceivable!

Like in the five months between the passing of the Stop WOKE Act and FIRE publishing its big important free speech rankings, no one thought "hey, uh, is this important for FSU"? Five months wasn't enough lead time to put that one back in the chamber?

And I dunno man, (a) is a pretty big cop-out. A college student eagerly looking at this list to inform where they should go to college and have maximal expression is being misled pretty badly if it ignores state laws, no?

You should update its Wikipedia entry, which is apparently incorrect in saying that only some of its provisions (relating to workplace trainings, not the education stuff) were struck down. Would be a great public service!
