Fun fact - the Japanese title of "I am a Cat" is 吾輩が猫である - Wagahai ga Neko de aru. That "Wagahai" term is and older and VERY self aggrandizing personal pronoun!

In today's infocard we're learning about fictional folk hero Momotarō. I sometimes use his story when I'm teaching my private lessons (not exactly a plug, but hey, if you wanna know more about Momotarō you can always hire me. I'm dirt cheap).
●There are rather a lot of folk heroes in Japanese history, and Momotarō (peach boy) is among the favorite. ●In his story, he popped out of a peach that washed down a river and was found by an old woman as she did laundry ●Shockingly, Momotarō was used as war propaganda during World War II!

●In my youth, I thirsted over Japan’s most heroic traitor in the Samurai Warriors (戦国無双, Sengoku Musou) video game series ●Although he loyally served Oda Nobunaga, Mitsuhide turned against him at the battle of Honnō-ji which led Nobunaga’s death ●He was a noteworthy architect and helped construct at least eight castles in his life
