yeah, they kinda flopped because steamOS wasnt good enough and proton didnt exist yet so the compatible library was awfully tiny, also worth mentioning that valve went with third party pc manufacturers to push steam machines out and all this really did was cause people to get confused since there-

the steam controller actually did pretty well and got brushed away because scuf (i think?) sued them for "patent infringement" over the back paddle inputs, which they somehow won. valve was basically forced to cancel the original steam controller. everything else was cancelled because they FLOPPED

the original steam machines literally just existed to push valve into the console market and to also make the transition to pc easier for console gamers, this new one is probably here to achieve literally the exact same thing lmao
