Any group that aims to eliminate AI rather than guide its direction is doomed to fail.

AI is indeed so useful that "we should stop developing them" isn't a viable position. Even if, like social media, it may end up making people less happy and fulfilled, it's too powerful to ignore and people that use it will out-compete people who don't.
