I had more problems with it than the ending (which wasn’t actually too bad, all things considered).
My first complaint was with the king of choice (horrible tyrant and rapist), and placing her there, after his first bloody purge, when his ruthlessness was already established was senseless.

I know the IMF crisis was horrible but this series is one crisis after another and I am now at the point where I don’t care anymore.
Cast is great, but after ep 12, I think I’m done.

I think we understand the victims of that kind of violence better after watching it. The same with Weak Hero (and those fight scenes were so well done) and bullying.
But the great thing about Kdrama is that there’s something for everyone.

IMO the depiction of abuse is accurate and necessary to establish the vast amount of psychological damage. His routine is Pavlovian, meant to instill terror. Her sense of dread and helplessness is palpable. Their performances are masterful.
I, too, loved The Glory, but this revenge is not the same.

I liked it. It has its flaws (I always struggle with the women-pretending-to-be-men thing) but it’s a good drama.

Sageuk is my favorite genre but I had to force myself to finish this one, only because I was mesmerized by Lee Chae-min.
IMO they overdid the cooking competition and selected a historically treacherous king (there’s a movie about him actually called The Treacherous).
Too many things going on.

There’s been talk about triggering, and I get that. It’s also a bit of a PSA about domestic violence, but the production quality and performances and storyline are top notch. And who doesn’t love a good revenge plot 😊
