...a national health service needs redundancy built in, as we have seen demonstrated during COVID and, in fact, almost every winter.
That spare capacity at other times, enables the reduction of waste such as staff burnout, unrealistic expectations of CPD, maintenance of basic infrastructure.

When you have an under-resourced organisation that cannot be allowed to collapse, it will continue to swallow money simply staving off that collapse.
The real problem is that it has tried to be 'efficient' as consecutive health secretaries believe they can cut out waste. THEY can't. But also...

Americano was, allegedly, invented for Americans in Italy (?) who weren't used to strong coffee (ie coffee tasting of coffee).
