They act as if there will never be accountability. That there may be some future accountability has traditionally been a bulwark against this type of out-of-control behavior.

This is what I have been worried about: that all this money we are supposed to be getting (whether from tariffs or from oil) is going directly into Trump's pocket, along with any withdrawals he wants to make from the US Treasury.

This "logic," if you want to call it that, happens too often. I don't get how you can deny something could possibly happen while pining away for the thing you're denying. It's like someone preparing for a shooting spree denying that shooting sprees are a thing.
