some church leaders (cardinals in cebu) even called for blood a while back which is wild, but at the same time it'd be a lie to consider the church a friend of the people; they're still a key player in the system and a resistive force against revolutionary spirit

Oh no, the Church has a vice grip on the minds of the people here, it's bad

But at the same time the political stance of the church here isn't the same as that of the church in the west; the PH church also follows the vatican's lead more closely, rather than getting mad bc the pope is 'woke'

Difference would be that the US is The Empire, so what happens to it is overall just more influential in the world stage

That said the church's stance in the PH rn is p liberal; not revolutionary (lol) but not hard conservative either—kinda different from the US where it's an active arm in Fash

From what I see of the news coming from the states RN, it's a very, VERY close mirror of what happened when we got Do-Tae/ The US of 2025 is the PH in 2016; it's kind of why I am doubtful of the idea that the hat cult will die when he steps down from office or from this plane @_@;

Yeah, we got. Slammed. By multiple disasters one after the other, and all the while our politicians are having the time of their lives bougie and safe as can be

There's a lot of anger in the air, but what will come out of it I honestly don't know

Yea @-@

Something I hear often is how back in the day my mother's family couldn't afford groceries most of the time, so my mother and her sisters would go out to forage at low tide, and eat whatever they got.

These days tho the shallows are too barren and dirtied for that to be viable tho...

Quintessential Filipino Experience xD

In my case it was my titas doing the "back in my day" speech—sometimes they'd be saying smth really mundane and relatable, sometimes they'd say something straight out of legend (like seeing an anito while picking kamias from a neighbour's tree)

I feel this, I make art/renders of friends' (and even strangers') characters for the love of it, even if it takes me time to do sometimes + it's exhausting to do

but I feel like I should probably start charging soon, bc I -am- jobless and in need of ₱₱₱
December 12, 2025 at 2:27 AM
That is.... a weird reason for blocking? @-@

Though I am reminded of how someone on twt pointed at my WoL and was like "you want to be white though! your OC is white!" (she's light-skinned PoC); maybe it's time we show off our WoLs wearing the baro't saya or smth and be obnoxiously pinoy X'D

Like, I *am* fluent in English (I think) but my own mother tongue is just like an undercurrent beneath my inglispákâ that makes itself known in ways that are sometimes obvious, and at other times so subtle that they elude me entirely
December 10, 2025 at 12:49 AM
Another consequence of this is that sometimes I do end up using gendered pronouns, but incorrectly; I've come to associate the whole "hoy! your uncle, tell her we eating now!" with my aunts but it seems like I was not spared (I usually catch this tho, and usually correct to neutral)

My language also has a pronoun distinction English does not have: Kita vs Kami

Kita is 'we', including the person being talked to.

Kami is 'we', *excluding* the person being talked to.

You can express the idea in English, but you have to go out of your way to do it while we just swap words :3

the reason why they/them is my default is bc in my language we only have one singular third person pronoun: sya.

Everyone is sya. Granny is sya. Gramps is sya. Teacher is sya. They is sya.
