My friend's setup idles at 45MB with a custom kernel, which is... kind of insane?
I now run Arch Linux with a minimal setup: DWM as my window manager and slstatus for system monitoring. The performance is noticeably faster, and text rendering is sharper compared to my ThinkPad X220. The system runs efficiently with minimal resource usage.

Thinking about installing Gentoo on my old 2011 MacBook Pro. Ubuntu ran perfectly on it, but I kinda want to try Gentoo just for the experience. Do I need to worry about any weird drivers or special setup stuff, or should it mostly work?

Yeah I get it, most Algerian parents are carrying a lot of old traumas from stuff that happened back in the day, and it shows in how they raise their kids. Luckily, my dad’s more like a friend to me, and I really love him for that.
