Even when you're running on the GPU the legacy of LAPACK/BLAS can be seen: Nvidia created cuBLAS, a CUDA library that mimicks "all 152 standard BLAS routines", which is why a lot of code using matrix multiplication could be ported over to GPU-land so quickly 😀
