My point is I don’t think it’s an all or nothing situation. I think there’s nuance involved but everyone seems to jump to extreme blanket statements.

Sure! That’s a fair point there. So we go back to voting with our dollars and deciding where we draw that line personally or within our communities.

Yeah, I’ve known several vegans in my years and it’s pretty interesting where lines are drawn. Seems to be a fairly personal choice. That’s the parallel I’m drawing with AI stuff. Pick where you draw the line with the information you have and vote with your dollars.

Yep, that’s what I meant by vote with your dollars. If it’s something gamers want to stand up against then don’t buy it. You’re right though, I think the vast majority of gamers don’t even give it a second thought. Especially with regards to games on phones/tablets.

My point is some vegans are fine with shoe leather and some aren’t. With AI some people are fine with certain uses for it and not for others. I’m not ok with it used for art generation (any art) but in other aspects like, note taking, transcribing etc… what’s the harm in that?

I wholeheartedly agree with not using AI for any art creation. However, imo, when you get into nitpicking about things like Copilot taking notes on a meeting counting as AI use in the creation of a video game it’s starting to sound like vegans arguing about shoe leather. Just vote with your dollars

I’ve been playing with this exact thing the past 2 weeks using a Zephyrus g16 (4080) and it has been… interesting. After trying 3 different flavors I landed on CachyOS and, as far as OSs go, it’s actually been quite good! Ease of playing games?… that’s been wildly inconsistent to say the least.

I’m betting it wasn’t an accident nor was it intentional. They just don’t care what it does to 3rd party docks either way.
