I work for a museum in their technology team, it’s arts so mostly women, and the women in general are all wonderful but the other developer and all of IT are men and it’s incredibly annoying how isolated I feel.

I think there are a lot of senior developers around who are so excited to be able to replace the mid and junior level female devs around them that they hate with AI.

A lot of it rings very true for me, I’m great and so valuable to the team, but only so long as there’s a more valuable man around who will constantly criticise and demean me as inferior, and god forbid we disagree on anything.

If people were just using it for work/study, I absolutely agree, but if you’re using it to write a card for your brother’s girlfriend who had a miscarriage (a real use case I have come across) I think there is definitely something else there.

I mean the ads that tech make for their products make their users seem like morons so you’re probably right there, I do think that it’s more then just the nature of the answers, but of all the AI tools that people use, they seem at least partially ashamed (or at least defensive) of image gen.
