Learn how to protect yourself in case an LRAD gets deployed on you. Move to the side, then away from where the device is pointing. Taking hard cover also helps! And remember, BRING EARPLUGS!

I quoted my original post with more information on how to protect yourself! Hearing protection will help mitigate permanent damage if you are caught in the beam, but you are correct. Getting out of the way of the beam or using hard cover is the most effective way to stay safe.
