Schroeder said in an interview on CNN that, at HHS, his job was focused on working on programs that “support people with disabilities and older adults.” But Schroeder told CNN that he was not asking Banks about getting his own job back but was instead asking Banks how he would help his constituents who feel the impact of the job cuts. “First of all, I didn’t ask him, ‘What is he doing to help me get reinstated in my position?’ I wasn’t asking, ‘Why did I get fired? What are you going to do to make sure me and other employees get their jobs?’ I was just asking, ‘What are you doing about the social services that are being cut specifically for people with disabilities?’ And his response was just that I deserve to get fired,” Schroeder said in the CNN interview, when asked to respond to Banks calling him a clown.

If you are visiting the United States, having a negative view of Trump is enough to get you denied entry.

Real security clearances take months of background checks. It is clear that these have not happened. Not enough time, and DOGE has hired a bunch of people who are security risks or hold white nationalist sympathies.

This comment on r/fednews really stood out to me. Trump and Musk want people to think they're firing do-nothing "bureaucrats," but they're really getting rid of people dedicated to serving this country and keeping it operational. I hope these stories get told.
I lost my job. USDA Forest Service. My probation was up next week. I did everything right. I took a GS-7 role with a master’s degree just to get my foot in the door. I spent years doing seasonal fieldwork for low pay, working in remote places, gaining experience, and building skills, just for a chance at a permanent position. I was about to be a GS-9. I wrote NEPA reports. I conducted field surveys. I worked fire support. I dedicated myself to this work because I believed in it. Public lands don’t manage themselves. The wildlife, watersheds, and forests we protect don’t just stay protected without people on the ground making it happen. My coworkers and I took on that responsibility, often in places most people never think about but that matter more than they know. And now? Just like that, I’m out. Edit: I’ve consistently supported progressive policies and have voted Democrat in every national and local election since I was 18. I do appreciate folks asking, I have some coworker having a serious 'leopards ate my face' moment right now.

not sure if some people understand that part of what makes creating so rewarding is the fact that it *is* hard. It doesn’t matter if you’re been painting or writing for 80 years— every piece will have problems that need solving, and few things feel better than figuring it out.

A lil’ tribute to one of my favourite YT channels :)

This is my periodic reminder to everybody who loses their appetite when they get stressed out to do whatever it takes to keep eating - set reminders, ask a trusted friend, whatever - because there have been years of downstream effects from my inadvertently collapsing my health in 2020 or so
