The only permanent change to that card is that the contact pins are now silver instead of the original gold plating. That’s purely a cosmetic change however, and it doesn’t affect the quality or conductivity requirements in the slightest. The pins are perfectly flat after being cleaned off with wick

I actually did end up making a proper memory card adapter, using an Arduino Micro, and a memory card slot from a broken spare-parts PlayStation. This’ll make dumping/writing memcards much easier and cleaner.
A prototype board with an Arduino Micro and a chopped off PS1 memory card slot soldered onto it, with yellow wires and a label that reads “MEMCARDUINO” Different angle of the first picture. The same thing, but a USB cable is connected to it. A little blue LED is emitting from the Arduino component, and a PS1 memory card is inserted into the slot
