*painfully awkward reminder that my book would make the perfect Christmas gift for any fans of teenage hedonism*
Matilda in the Middle jamming good in Waterstones (Glasgow) with books by Paul Simpson and Stuart Braithwaite (Bush & Dylan etc too). The book is also available in Big Blue and other good shops, in Strathaven it’s available in Taylor’s bakery.

Telstar Ponies were an obscure Glasgow band in the mid 1990s; and I discovered them for myself buying a secondhand CD in York of a Fire Records compilation. Here is a beautiful if but gothic-tinged Christmas lament from them: tidal.com/track/273003...

My profile header image is a jpg I made to refer to Michael Donaghy’s poem about blossoms in reverse. A beautiful but brutal poem.

I’ve bought a lot of vinyl this year but haven’t been able to play it because my music setup isn’t sorted at home. It’s going to be fixed for 2025. I love music as much as literature. So, I’ll post pics of the vinyl I’ve bought — give me an hour ;-)

Usually, my music tastes are too bizarre to share. But I’ve made a very ridiculous electroclash playlist for myself for secret reasons, and I think some of you might enjoy it: tidal.com/playlist/84b...

I’ve nearly finished All My Precious Madness, by @markabowles.bsky.social. I’ve laughed & cried, which a novel rarely rouses me to. I’ve eaten the narrator’s linguistic literary cornucopia while being towed under by exquisite irony into an abyss. The best novel I’ve read this year.
