Along the way we learned about the interplay between interface energetics and symmetry. Hopefully this research will lead to new classes of particles that can be used for vaccine and drug delivery, or other material design applications.

To design these particles we took inspiration from viruses, adopting the concepts of pseudosymmetry and quasi equivalence, creating particles with hundreds of protomers while minimizing the number of designed interfaces. This allows for an efficient approach to increased size and complexity.
