In 2021, she designed the visual identity for the Archive, a volunteer-led org dedicated to preserving & sharing lesbian histories. Earlier this year, the project was recognized as a highlight at the 14th Brazilian Design Biennial, the largest in the event’s history!

Meet Thaís Esmeraldo (she/her)– a Brazilian multidisciplinary graphic designer and art director based in New York. She is also the communications coordinator for the Brazilian Lesbian Archive, where she merges design and activism to preserve queer history.

Their creative process starts with mixed media paper collages and inky textures. PO then makes their own recycled paper from the scraps and creates blind contours, adding sustainability to their work. Their life's purpose is to brighten someone’s day and make the world slightly more magical.

Inspired by childlike sense of wonder, PO produces art that encourages individuals to see the world through a different lens and laugh along the way. Their pieces are often constructed out of paper-cut shapes that explore themes of absurdity, nature, love, queerness, and mental health.
