A black post with white text that reads: The murder of Jonathan Joss, a queer and Native American voice actor of the Comanche and White Mountain Apache tribes, has frightened and saddened the Queer Vox community. This hate crime is a stark reminder how vulnerable LGBQTIA+ people are. We are so often demonized by the twisted rhetoric in our current politics and media, it feels as if we walk through the world with targets on our backs. Jonathan’s acting work remains not only as a memorial to his talent, but also a testament to the importance of authentic representation. The more the voices of the underrepresented are heard and tied to the very real beating hearts behind them, the more this divided nation will understand and defend us. In that pursuit, we must never be silent. Our hearts go out to Jonathan’s husband Tristan and to all who knew and loved him.

Pride is a time to celebrate the diversity of the queer experience, however #Pride is more than a celebration, it is a reminder how tenuous our freedoms are & how critical the support of our allies is.

International UK The Beaumont Society offers direct help and support from the trans community. Canterbury Trans Network is a mutual aid network and social community open to transgender, nonbinary, and intersex (TNBI) adults (over 18) and any adults questioning their gender identity. Galop supports LGBT+ people who have experienced abuse and violence. Gendered Intelligence is a trans-led charity that aims to improve the lives of trans and nonbinary people in the UK. Gender Kit offers advice and support for those questioning their gender. Gender Identity Research and Education Society is a professionally managed membership charity supported by volunteers that, in collaboration with other groups in its field, hears, helps, empowers and gives a voice to trans and gender diverse individuals. Mindline Trans+ is an emotional and mental health support helpline for anyone identifying as trans, nonbinary, or gender variant, and their families, friends, colleagues, and carers. Spectra is a peer-led trans service accessible to all trans and gender-diverse people, including 1-to-1 health advocacy support and counselling, peer mentoring, and monthly online and in-person social groups. Stonewall is a charity campaigning for LGBT+ equality. Switchboard is an LGBT+ helpline. Terrence Higgins Trust Direct is a phone and e-mail service for questions about sexual health or living with HIV. The Trans+ Therapy Library (APP) is a free mental health resource created by and for the trans+ community TransActual is a trans-led and run organization focused on healthcare and legal protections for trans people in the UK. TRUK Listens is a helpline for trans people who need someone to talk to, started by Trans Radio founders Avril and Lucy Clark. England The Clare Project is a trans support and social group based in Brighton and Hove and open to anyone wishing to explore issues around gender identity. Forward LGBT+ is a local, inclusive hub for Stockport’s LGBT+ community, family, and friends. LGBT Foundation is a national charity based in Manchester with trans services and resources. Scotland Equality Network is a national LGBT+ equality and human rights charity striving to challenge discrimination and to consult, involve, and inform individuals and communities in Scotland. LEAP Sports works for greater inclusion for LGBT+ people in sports and against homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia in a sports context. LGBT Health and Well-Being is a health and well-being charity working to improve the physical, social, and mental health and well-being of LGBT+ adults (16+) in Scotland through support services, a social programme for the community, and supporting mainstream services to be more inclusive. The Scottish Trans project aims to improve gender identity and gender reassignment equality, its rights, and overall inclusion in Scotland. Wales Trans Aid Cymru provides mutual aid, meetups, and community for trans and nonbinary people in Wales. Umbrella Cymru is a national gender and sexual-diversity specialist organization that provides a wide range of support services across Wales. UNIQUE Transgender Network is a voluntary group supporting Trans (transgender), nonbinary, and gender-diverse people in North Wales and West Cheshire.
