Was super impressed with @markbigstar.bsky.social’s unreal collection of Big Star 45s and so I thought I’d share this. Sadly I only have one of the 45s but over the years I’ve managed to track down all three LPs cheap. The framed ad was from Billboard and was tucked inside my copy of Radio City.

Ain’t had an 8-track machine since last millennium. Still couldn’t leave these behind.

Politics hasn't been this simple in a long time: do you think it's good for one man to exercise unchecked, arbitrary power or not. Those are the two available ideologies right now

Another all-time top-five desert island what have you classic. Just so incredible. I mean Caught in a Dream? Long Way to Go? The Ballad of Dwight Fry!?! Just hit after damn hit and one of the best gatefold interiors ever. Ridiculously good, highest possible recommendation.

Calling all Portis-Heads! This here volume — a thoughtful Xmas gift from my lovely wife — is pretty enjoyable so far, recommended as much for the burgeoning Charles Portis fan as the grizzled obsessive.

“I Can See Your Ways” - the folky flip of the Richard Vanover & Bob Ralph 45 on the Clark label, recorded in Russellville in 1968. The other side, somewhat confusingly titled “I Can See,” is an absolute garage rock bruiser and was comped on the third volume of Lost Souls, all of which are killer.

I miss the old, occasionally useful Internet of, say, ~2000-2010. Seems like ever since then, every single website has been in a race to the bottom to become a junk-littered assault on the senses and even the very concept of factual information presented in a cohesive and visually effective manner.
