This is the day I learned that my sister has a major soft spot for fuzzy caterpillars xD She was swooning over the little guy for like 10 minutes as it crawled clumsily over the leaves <3

🪲ID Guess: Moth caterpillar🤷
#bugsky #ozinverts #inverts
A photograph of a fuzzy little moth caterpillar with a red head stretching its little body up in a curve to climb up onto another leaf. The caterpillar has a long black body covered in spikey white hairs. Its little legs at the front of its body is red like its round little head. It has a row of three tiny black eyes at each side of its head, and little mouth parts.

Thank you!💚💚 I hope you have fun looking for bugs (sending you luck so that they stay still long enough for a photo xD)

If you find/get a pen and do some doodles, I'd love to see them!!🤩

these are some photos i took just with my phone, i think the 'getting into it' part isn't about the equipment, it's about you going out looking for the little critters!
Photo of a sap green bladdar cicada sitting on a painted grey beam. Its wings are patterned to look like a leaf. A photo of a broad nosed weevil clinging onto the underside of a damaged leaf. The weevil has a stout body covered in knobbly bumps, and a short, broad snout with its antenna sticking straight forward. Its stocky legs are spread out to grip onto the leaf. A photo of a case moth larva's stacked wooden structure sitting on the top of a wet, green leaf. The structure is built with evenly sized twigs twisting into a tiny tower that ends with a point. A photo of a green flatinae bug sitting on the side of an orange stem. It has a geometric body, with a pointed snout and squarish wings that are veined like a leaf.

I got into it just using a macro setting on my phone and going into my garden or local parks looking for bugs! There's also clip-on macro lenses for phones if you don't have that setting.
If you get super into that, you could consider getting a camera with a macro lens, I use Olympus cams✨

The lighting makes it look so majestic✨

🪲ID Guess: Common Assassin Bug
#bugsky #ozinverts #inverts
A sideview photo of a common assassin bug sitting on the edge of a rusty metal rod. The bug is cast in shadow with a sharp light behind it, illuminating the fine hairs all over its body. It has a robust body with thin limbs and a small tube like head. Its abdomen is cream coloured, its thorax and head a dark maroon, its antennae bright orange, and its legs start orange and fade into light green. It has small black eyes and a redish tubular mouthpart tucked under its head. A three quarter view photo of the same common assassin bug. In this view its head and tubular mouthpart is better seen. Its head is almost as thin as its leg, and droops slightly at the end as it tapers into the mouthpart, which is made of two segments. A sideview photo of the same common assassin bug from a bit further away. In this view the abdomen is better seen, which is the biggest part of the bugs body. The abdomen is a light cream and oblong, with the edges of it tapering to a thin edge and curving slightly upward like the brim of a hat. That edge has small ridges and little red dots beneath each ridge line. The wing can just be seen starting at the middle of the thorax and draping over ontop of the abdomen.

🪲ID Guess: Peacock Spiders
#bugsky #ozinverts #inverts #spiders
A sideview photo off a brown peacock spider sitting on the edge of a grey painted beam, with mottled green shades in the background. The spider has a small, compact body covered in light brown fluff. across its six large eyes is a band of black that extends to the white splotch at the top of its abdomen. A different angle of the same peacock spider from a closer front-view. With this view its squarish head and big round eyes are better seen. Its small pedipalps tuck over its chelicerae. Each joint of its legs begin with a small dark spot while the rest is the same light brown as the rest of its body. A top view of the same peacock spider from a top view. The crescent pattern of black on the back of its thorax, and the subtle patterns on its almond shaped abdomen is better seen from this view.

We did it!! That was exhausting but very very fun✨
These challenged always upgrade my art somehow, and this time it was rendering and colour experimentation :D And I also got to learn about a whole bunch of new bugs! (1/2)
A digital illustration of quilbugs insect persona standing in exhausted triumph after completing a month drawing challenge. They hold onto a large stylus for support and lifts a triumphant fist with its top pair of arms, and holds their pages of art in one of their bottom pair of arms. Their antenna are crooked, their eyes have disorientated swirls in them and their limbs are a bit shaky, but they are proud. Quilbug is a small, segmented anthro bug, mostly fluffy and green with red and yellow bands on their back and abdomen, and transparent wings.

Common name: bird dropping moth

do you see it?

🎨 #insectember2025 #anthro #bugart
A digital illustration of an anthropomorphized bird dropping moth facing away from the camera and conducting an implied orchestra. The maestro is mostly a creamy white with shiny black patterns on its arms and wings. It has big black eyes, long thing antenna, and neat fluff around its neck going down its back. Its folded wings are patterned with an eerie picture of a spiders face, as if in shadow with a gleam in its eyes. The moths four arms are posed in various motions, and one holds a maestro's baton.
