This is an incredible luxury. I get that. It’s also my only true 1 on 1 time with my kids - a learning journey for me as a mom. People will miss funerals & weddings & birthdays with loved ones. Families will be stranded far from home.

We all have our reasons for needing those ✈️ when the time comes.

Rubber hitting the road for folks here.

Each of my kids gets a mama-kid Disney trip for fall break when they turn 6. This is my last such trip, & that baby has spent her whole life listening to her siblings talk up this trip.

Her only Disney trip. My last Disney trip. Really need that ✈️ next week.

CNN: “Nashville’s air traffic approach control will go dark for five hours tonight due to short staffing—the second FAA facility in as many days to shut down over shortages.”

There are state and local disclosures that should capture all of that. I take those disclosures very seriously, and from conversations with my colleagues, so do they.

I think we all intuitively know that long commutes mean less sleep and poorer health outcomes. Researchers in Japan measured it, and a commute longer than 52 minutes is as bad as insomnia.

Building our city for long commutes is literally hazardous to our health.

Polls are open!

Nashville, we have an important special election in one of the three congressional districts that now cover the city.

If you live in TN-7, you have an important federal accountability moment.

BHN uses a listserv for the steering committee, & it works great. Same for our neighborhood gardening group.

There was a learning curve, for sure, especially with the garden crew, but it is working great these days.

Seems like this could be a nice project for N2N - help get everyone communicating.

Ha! Pretty sure that’s been public for years & no confession necessary.

I still think there’s a place in the vin diagram of individual property rights + lifting all boats to come to a consensus on this.

But that’s just one piece of the puzzle”save democracy puzzle” we’re having to put together as we go. /end

Project 2025: Attack federal housing policy, which drives a local-only solution, which local government to only encourage single family zoning, which drives up value for existing owners, which puts home ownership (& the dreams and wealth created by it) out of reach for anyone not already vested. /2

Housing used to be a bipartisan, nonpartisan issue. In some circles, it still is.

In some it’s very much a part of the 2025 playbook - tminstituteldf.org/equal-access...

What’s the playbook?

I don’t follow. You’d be hard pressed to find a CM who hasn’t taken any $$ tied to some developer. Here, though, there is a long one-sided donation history (this is a snippet) from someone using a Project 2025 issue to go after someone who did 2 years of local, nonpartisan community engagement.

Just so we’re clear on what’s happening.

The beauty of local politics is that it is nonpartisan-we can debate issues on merits & not like we’re opposing SEC teams. Sadly, not everyone feels that way these days.

The Stratford high school marching band was our morning escort for Walk to School Day! If only every day we were this aware that walking is awesome. @walkbikenashville.bsky.social

I have a great idea.

Instead of taking seriously the 3m workers who won’t get paid starting tomorrow & the people whose life saving benefits won’t show up, let’s create fake videos mocking people who we don’t like just like bored, bully preteens would do.

That will definitely prove we care.

We were through there in July and it was really wild to see. I don’t think the photos can really explain just how much of the road is gone and how it feels like such a failure of infrastructure - it just goes on and on and on.

To be clear I don’t think it’s his magical wand - he’s quoting someone here and that’s why I gave him credit for this story. But I bet he’s seen some catastrophes in his reporting!

Idk, my definition of “catastrophic flooding” includes loss of life and significant structural damages. Curious what’s easy about that clean up…
