There's no easing into the mental health crisis that is quickly brought forth, and it doesn't stop there. This wasn't always easy to read due to my own sensitivities, but it was worth the hurt as Charlotte (Charlie, Char, blackbird) Hannah and William (Will, QB) Hayes navigate their first and second chances. <blockquote><i><b> “Kiss me, Charlotte. Make it a good one. I need it to last.” </b></i> -- William Hayes </blockquote> This is sweet and sad, steamy and heartbreaking. Seeing them together as teenagers, what broke them apart, and what eventually brings them back together is quite the journey. I love how dedicated William is to Charlotte and her happiness. It's borderline too much, but it works here. It needs to be said. Ray needs to be clocked for his reaction to an incident involving unwanted sexual contact. If he weren't fictional, I'd totally sign up to do it. Sadly, the response isn't fictional, but still.... In general, I'm not a fan of jumping back and forth in the timeline. While I absolutely love the story and understand why the jumps happened, it's the part I enjoyed the least. There are numerous references to the Wild Hearts series and prior books in this series, but I think this can be read as a standalone.
