I was awarded a ~£2M UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship! 🥳

This will fund human-centred work on communication accessibility, exploring emerging AI & embodied form factors.

I'm hiring 2 HCI postdocs, an SLT researcher & a PhD student:

I did not present at #chi2025, but my amazing postdoc, PhD student and collaborators at @hcid.city did present work I was involved in. All open access here:

My crowning #chi2025 achievement was 'Cupybara Noodles', created at the Cupnoodle museum in #yokohama.
Two pictures of Cupnoodle with custom design. Shows a capybara eating noodles in a zen like state. Text of cup is altered to say 'cupybara noodles'

Again, all mostly meaningless, but might help understand more about the shape of #chi2025 and broader academic publishing patters.

Don't know who needs to know this, but we came across really good, open source, free app for qualitative coding that works in the browser.

app.taguette.org

It is basically NVivo, but free, and good. Collaboration seems pretty effortless, akin to Overleaf of GDocs

#chi2025 statistics, summarising countries, institutions, labs and people at #chi2025. Also, there are some 'reading lists' based on (my) interests. Imperfect, but hopefully useful or interesting to someone: tdjneate.github.io/chi_stats/20...

CHI 2025 Paper Stats <decorative CHI 2025 logo in pink japanese style>

Below are some potentially interesting statistics I have generated from the JSON file from the CHI 2025 program. I consider only 'full papers' here. There were a total of 1,249 accepted full papers, from a total of 5,014 submitted (24.9% accept rate). Presenting statistics like this is an idea I borrowed (stole) from whatthehci.com, which seems to no longer be updated. You can also check out some cool statistics for the conference on the official blog.
