Secular humanist. I don't want you to pray for me. I want you to think for yourself.

Code. DSP. Writing. Guitars. Basses. Microphones. Music. Photos. Languages. Cards. Cubes. Reason. Empathy.
That's kind of my point.

If we taught children to question everything and to be critical of implausible claims, no amount of nonsense they read would register as proof or truth.

It would just slightly inconvenience parents for a while. Which is, of course, totally unacceptable. So stupidity it is!

If you breed a country full of holier-than-thou idiots who blindly believe nonsense without questioning it, then you get a country full of idiots who accept every sarcastic or dishonest post online as the absolute truth.

Especially since their uncle/aunt also said something like that last week.

Like Ronny Chieng said – "Who knew all of human knowledge could make people dumber?"

The problem is not the Internet, nor having access to it.

The problem is that people are raised to be religious, to blindly accept the most absurd claims as true, without demanding plausible arguments or proof.
December 5, 2025 at 2:55 PM
That's what comes from being religious. Teaching people from childhood on to blindly accept, to not even try to understand, telling them they're shameful and incapable of understanding anyway.

You bred a country of easily-deludable people.

They became deluded.

Now nobody understands why or how. 🤷

Go try talk any bank into giving you that kind of deal. You'll hear more hearty, loud laughter than in all Netflix comedy specials combined.

Now they'll have to find a way to make subscribers pay for it. Price hike in 3, 2, 1... and more ads in the cheaper plans.

"But it's so much new content!"
December 5, 2025 at 2:42 PM
For perspective – the profit of Netflix in 2025 sits around $6-$7 bn. Hard profit that doesn't have to be spent on operating expenses, like taxes (lol), content licencing, rent, etc.

Basically, someone claimed to be broke and was given a payment plan for something costing 13x their annual savings.
December 5, 2025 at 2:40 PM
The deal includes $23+ bn in cash & $4+ bn in Netflix stock.

They got ~$59 bn in bank financing (Wells Fargo, BNP Paribas, HSBC) under a plan labelled "Project Noble".

So the majority of the upfront capital paid by a company slowly dying of money troubles comes from borrowed money and new shares.

Nah, all good. I mean, I still couldn't find any 2.4.1 deals, but I managed to upgrade a single plugin I already owned to a bundle at an automatic (decent-enough) extra discount. So I didn't get the deal – but I got a deal. ;)
December 4, 2025 at 10:04 PM
Do the individual plugin 2-fers need a code? I'm not seeing any discounts here, only bundles.

"former US President Trump"? Fingers crossed. Link defunct.

Please note that my use of the male form, Guardsmen, is not based on my own ignorance or lack of sensitivity, but on the background that those cunts are strictly opposed to anything DEI.

June '25: Trump starts deploying National Guard all over US

October '25: Trump instructs NG to be ready for action vs. civilians by January '26

November '25: Alleged civilian with Trump-vetted CIA background kills 2 National Guardsmen

January '26: "Who could have ever expected...?!"

Alle tun immer so überrascht. Merz hat seine Ideologie und seinen Kurs schon lange ganz deutlich klargemacht. Dass er ein harter Rechtspopulist ist, hat er wirklich niemandem verheimlicht.

Don't mis-interpret these words – I have no wish or desire that you lot go through another civil war. I just don't see any potential for a change in course unless measures are taken that will undoubtedly kick one off.
November 29, 2025 at 11:34 AM
First amendment has been used extensively, with no worthwhile results. Time to move on to the next, or accept the new status quo.
November 29, 2025 at 11:32 AM
It's been 10 months since agent orange took office.

In those 10 months, all the democratic politicians, judges & protestors on the street have achieved so far is, effectively, to shout at the Titanic while sinking.

Without using the 2nd amendment y'all are so fond of, I don't see that changing.
November 29, 2025 at 11:30 AM
I always think "that can't be it – can it?" right before I decide to worry about something else instead. This usually happens when I come to the conclusion that, sadly, from outside it seems the decline of the US can not be halted without a civil war.

Fingers crossed that they find out soon.

I am doing me – I am pointing out hypocrisy.

That's what it is when someone acts as if Apple were so evil for having a closed ecosystem – while Google/Android have an equally closed ecosystem, just with a lot more privacy-breaching behaviour tracking, data mining and data peddling on top.
November 28, 2025 at 1:10 AM
You'd rather buy one that's tied to only Google, much better.
November 28, 2025 at 12:30 AM
Hang on, so a black guy supporting an orange racist is not a DEI matter?
