I have never had a car in my life. I have literally never driven a car. I have taken public transit with perishable and non-perishable groceries, 30lb bags of dog food, and more. Sometimes in a backpack, sometimes a granny cart, sometimes just carrying bags.

Someone claimed that there are not "cheap chicken shops" in America and posted a maps result of chicken shops in London as proof. One of their results was Wingstop, which isn't cheap, either - $$ per Google (I can't see the actual prices without some app).

They do exist, as do other local fast/cheap food spots. Restrictive zoning may keep them from operating in certain types of cities and suburbs, but that's true for England, too.

For those who don't know, 26th and Sacramento is the northwest corner of the HUGE Cook County Jail and Cook County Criminal Courthouse complex. If you're visiting someone in some of the low/medium security divisions, you enter a block or two down on Sacramento.
