with some tinkering with the yscale code it's indeed possible to replicate this effect in MUGEN. said code was used in a conversion of Hitomi's stage I made a while back.

really excited to be able to try this thing but it crashes when I try to load The Island mod from 2013.

it sucks that YouTube is doing this but at least they have *some* sort of integrity to make it completely optional on the viewer's end
content creators on the other hand may have to disable that shit but I don't think there's much to worry about here
