My friend thought he “had more time.” He said, “I’m not ready to get sober….I don’t think I’ve hit rock bottom.” Well, he DIED taking his time. Bitch, TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. ROCK BOTTOM IS WHEN YOU STOP DIGGING. I didn’t want to get sober from meth. I just WANTED to WANT sobriety. That was enough.

To maintain sobriety, the only thing we have to do perfectly is not take that first drink. In all other ways, we are a work in progress and always will be. Good living, honesty, service, compassion, knowledge, selflessness; these are some areas in which we can always strive to progress.

Meditation is key for my sobriety. As an alcoholic my thought processes are very twisted, often in ways I never suspected. Meditation not only helps me not drink, it helps me be a better person. Many things can bring awareness to your thoughts: prayer, journaling, talking to your sponsor, etc…
