Baltimore based textile artist, Maryland Master Naturalist. Drawing flowers and planting for pollinators.
Starting this Sunday I’ll be tabling once a month at my neighborhood farmers market. I’m excited to be sharing my work with my community and the opportunity to talk about traditional handcrafts and shine light on the humble objects/textiles we use every day.

Spent today very officially walking through the maple collection at the arboretum with my big clipboard taking cuttings for the herbarium. Very peaceful and enjoyed talking to visitors about my passion project!

If, for example, Trump says nobody is allowed to dance, on penalty of death, he has no legal power to make that declaration and no power to enforce it, but if everyone stops dancing it's as good as if he did. Reporting as though Trump has these powers helps give him those powers.
Shocking But Not Surprising Strikes Again (and Again)
The Caprices of the Oligarchs Shocking but not surprising is a phrase I've often reverted to in the past eight years, for things that are both hideous and predictable, maybe transgressive against the...

Last month, over a thousand people helped us raise nearly $1,890 at checkout to support Baltimore Safe Haven. This month, our register campaign supports the awesome folks at Trans Maryland. Let's go!

The bi-polar is polaring and I’m exhausted and I’m pretty sure I didn’t stop talking the entire 45 minutes of therapy but I am drinking a seltzer and that’s water so I am surviving.

In her book Unraveling Peggy Orenstein highlights again and again the way textiles support much of our daily lives, and like Peggy I have been joking/not joking for years now that textile work is my apocalypse skill. I do think these days I’m useful in other ways, but doesn’t hurt to practice

I’m happy to report that toddlers are not afraid to show love to everyone and everything, that my kid understands consent to the point where I have to ask him if I can pat his head, that 4 is the max no. of cards you can get a 3yo to make, after he’s already made 2 for himself

Today’s quiet, little acts: I cut back last year’s hellebore leaves to reveal new blooms, pruned suckers and deer damage from a small thankful tree. Made cookies for my fellow gardeners, listened to their stories, loved them.

A rollercoaster over here this morning. But in all seriousness, I’m so honored that I have to opportunity to help establish an herbarium at my local arboretum. I believe records and preservation are essential to our climate future.

Idk this is the year I stop underselling myself. I am incredibly skilled and qualified for so many opportunities I shrink from and I don’t know why I’ve been telling myself I’m not enough. Anxiety is so rude but the work doesn’t lie.

Haven’t made custom archival boxes since 2013, not too bad for a practice round with sloppy math and a dull box cutter. Library work transferring nicely to herbarium building.

I actually think the floor loom is easier for a kid than the dexterity it takes to manipulate thread on a handloom. Too short to sit on the bench and reach the treadles but he’s getting a standing workout.
