I am assessing NPQLBC and a little surprised at the quick fix solutions by simply adding rewards and incentives and opposed to unravelling causes. I just wonder who is doing the blackmailing.

My Mum always says stay curious.

Yes. It’s a leadership qualification for teachers. England.

I am assessing them. It's NPQLBC - leading behaviour and culture.

Some pupils don't like public praise.

The best reward of all. Time and nurturing.

Exactly my point. Thank you.

I am reading scripts for leading behaviour and culture where lot of solutions written are simply to provide a reward to motivate and engage students - extra trips, vouchers and so on..... Who is doing the blackmailing here?

When do we take responsibility and put in the effort because it's the right thing to do and not expect a reward before doing it?

Were you praised verbally or with physical rewards potentially with a monetary value? Did you need the reward to succeed?

I get the impression you would have done exactly the same and extremely well without the merits too.

Should we be exploring why there is lack of motivation and engagement as opposed to students working with the expectation of getting a reward? NPQLBC

I feel the dependence upon then that can set up failure.

These are being offered as solutions in NPQLBC rather than getting to the root of lack of motivation.

Back in 2011 I recall being on hold for 3 hours and totally powerless. Final result was police and temporary overnight care. I was making cheese sandwiches at 7pm butchering the big block of cheese in the school kitchen.

Love it. I just wonder how many students only want to learn when they ask, 'what's in it for me?' as though they don't need to own their accountability.
