Imagine, if you will, that he caved so easily specifically because he didn't want to be trapped in Congress and have to cancel his book tour. He was blind to the possibility of backlash. Now he's lost both.

NYT told us all repeatedly back in October that the economy was awful and that's why Trump was winning. Turns out NYT really just wanted to create drama for clicks. Trump is far more dramatic and gets them far more clicks.
