Last week ushered in Spookymonth like a full house (of Usher)…and this week, our hand is all queens. To wit: Lauren Parker makes her Story Hour debut, Rachel Unger is again among us! Join us Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. PDT! @laurenparker.bsky.social @rachelunger.bsky.social www.storyhour2020.com
Waist-up color photo of writer Lauren Parker, a fair-skinned woman with short hair dyed bright pink and tattoos on both arms. She wears a strapless smocked top (or perhaps a dress) in a pink floral, one large ring on each hand, a watch with a metal band, dangling earrings, a septum ring, large plastic-framed glasses, and bright pink lipstick. She is in what appears to be a large room with wood paneling; large speakers loom on the ceiling. She stands before a microphone, sheets of white paper in hand, and looks out to the audience with her face alert and almost smiling. Full-body color photo of writer Rachel Unger, a fair-skinned woman with brown hair in pigtails. She wears a blue-and-orange bike jersey, black bike shorts, sunglasses, cycling shoes, and a white bike helmet. This is because she is on a black-and-green Cannondale bicycle, having just completed the AIDS/LifeCycle bike ride. Palm trees, blue sky, sandy beach, and onlookers form a background. She smiles broadly, joyfully, into the camera.

The other evening, I had a wonderful time introducing @pronouncedlahra.bsky.social to The Magnus Archives. We listened to the first 2 episodes.
I would like to thank @rustyquill.com but also formally apologize to my friends and family for my upcoming absence, as there are 5 seasons.

This pulled up a happy memory: I started reading horror because my godmother let me have access to her novels as soon as I snuck in and started reading. It's why I have a shelf of Bunnicula, Christopher Pike, and LJ Smith - so the kids in my life can find them one day.

I’m just begging people to publish new horror lists that include middle grade and YA ffs

They read adult horror because of US

For me, it's A Night in The Lonesome October! But I like your choice, too. 🎃

Have you found your new desktop background? :)

Big Pillow would like to remind you that pillows have been proud to serve as screaming receptacles for many years, well before the void became hip. (Here's hoping staunch plumbers with ear plugs are dispatched to the void soon.)

@maryrajotte.bsky.social shared this, and it worked for me: "If you're as annoyed as I am when the stupid AI Assistant pops up to summarize your file every time you open a PDF in Acrobat, try this...
View > Enable|Disable New Acrobat (Mac) or Hamburger menu > Enable|Disable New Acrobat (Windows)."

I love both of those movies! Honestly, this entire set of posts is going to make me want to rewatch a bunch of films.

I was able to see this in an actual theatre recently! And the people behind me had never seen it, because someone gasped at the end. It made me happy for them to be able to see it for the first time. :)

Share your favorite black and white movie? Don't mind if I do: decider.com/wp-content/u...
A black and white still of the house from the 1963 movie The Haunting.

I try to think of it as being an involved pet parent. (I'm sorry, and I hope they're better soon.)

I'm glad to have found you as well! I've been enjoying your work on LWON :)

If only the rest of me were as quick off the mark as guilt... I hope the allergies subside and you feel better soon.

So the art is definitely making me want to know where I can find the book :)

So he's the guest editor on the Best American SciFi and Fantasy for 2024, and so far I'm really enjoying his choices. I haven't watched much of Silo, but I'm now thinking about picking up the novels.

I sense another thread in one of our futures... 😂

I loved Long Way! (I would have read another 50-100 pages of relationship shift, and then the epilogue - I wanted to spend more time with them all.) For something to read when stressed, I definitely lean toward character-driven work. What about you?
rachelunger.bsky.social
Early in the episode, Alex asked, "Which Inside No 9 episode was he in?" 😂 I think he watched less of them than I did.
