Wow, 30 years later and I could still give directions on how to navigate all those dungeons. Which holes to fall through, what cracks to bomb...

I love the Hainish novels so much. The first three are nowhere near as good as the rest... but they're still genuinely fantastic! I have never regretted re-reading a book by Le Guin.

Countdown until the "this is not a time for division" speeches that excuse doing literally nothing about anything.

Ooh! I just had an hour long argument about the Frost's "The Road Not Taken" last night, so the title alone has me hooked.

Honestly, the fact that this teaser was not enough to secure funding for a second season is definitive proof that the people who fund art do not care about art. I would happily go bankrupt just to fuel this madness for another season. Return on investment? Who gives a crap.

persecuting minority groups who they imagine are poisoning society is an inherent part of the ideology, they need it, even if they were handed an ethnically 'cleansed' fascist state it would collapse in a witch-hunt for secret jews and suspected homosexuals and insufficiently committed fascists

I think for me the most compelling answer for "why fund basic research?" (and the one most relevant to the people doing the work) is that humans are curious and finding stuff out makes us happy and fulfilled. Science is a thing humans like. Life would be more dull and sad if we didn't do it.

That rainy shot is literally the best wedding photo I have ever seen. Congratulations, and may you bring each other such smiles through every storm to come.

If you consider that information is cancelled out but misinformation, then we are kind of living in the post-information age.
