Anxiously autistic, wonderfully whimsical, and quintessentially queer. A microcosm of horror movies, video games, creative writing. Runs The Nasty Pasty, records film commentaries, writes essays, creates film memorabilia. He/Him 🏳️‍🌈🇪🇺
Rounding off a wonderful Halloween with the one and the only… going to double bill it with Halloween II just like when I was a child… I love this time of year ❤️

It was my first ever Pride yesterday, and I can’t even begin to explain how magical it felt to be with your own kin, just being themselves, and celebrating all of our queerness without fear or hesitation! 🏳️‍🌈💋🏳️‍⚧️ #pride

Outside of horror films, The Goonies is probably the childhood film that fills me with the most nostalgia and good feeling. There’s just something so magical about this movie, especially when you get to experience it all again with your own kids. I truly don’t think I’d ever tire of watching this… 🤩

Absolutely thrilled to have contributed to such a phenomenal box set! The works of Michael Hanake are always going to remain controversial, so I was overjoyed to done a video essay for his erotic drama The Piano Teacher! Huge thanks to Umbrella Entertainment for such a marvellous opportunity 🤩🤩

What a delight to see @severinfilms.bsky.social Danza Macabra Vol. Three be nominated for Best Blu-Ray Collection at the Rondos! I got my first legit film commentary job on Necrophagous within the set so it’s mega exciting to have contributed to such a stellar release! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

I probably say this film far too often, but Critters 4 really doesn’t have many defenders, so I often feel obliged to shout about how awesome I think it is… 🤪

I really wasn’t prepared for this level of gut punch. What a truly sad day 😢 RIP David Lynch

Remember when we said our hard-won rights can be rolled back in the twinkling of an eye? And that these major companies who wear rainbow colours during Pride don’t actually give a crap about us?

All it took was one fascist globule to take power, and they proudly turned their backs on us.

Just finished the Silent Hill 2 remake, and I’m pretty blown away by how good this was. Very rarely can you say a remake manages to improve upon an original so well. Dare I say, I almost feel inspired to write more about horror games this year, it’s not just about movies, right?

@madefortvmayhem.bsky.social I do hope you had a hand in this release?? This is one of your faves, right?

3. Killing Birds (1988)
Certainly not one of the best of its kind, but it’s genuinely surprising how this fits so well into the Italian zombie canon. Creaky cobwebbed undead, loads of references to The Beyond, and plentiful gore including death by necklace and the requisite mutilation by raptors.

2. The Slayer (1982)
One of my favourite of the UK’s video nasties, J.S. Cardone’s cloyingly atmospheric slasher film combines mature characters, nightmarish gory visuals, and an enigmatic villain that predates the somnolent phantom of Freddy Krueger. It’s also cleverly open to interpretation.

1. Candyman (1992)
My favourite horror film of all time, I’m always in tears by the film’s tragic finale. The hauntingly poetic figure played by Tony Todd delivers a searing examination of the generational effects of racism and prejudice upon minorities and wider society. Still poignant even today…

We could really have had an unofficial [Location] [Murder Method] Massacre movies franchise… alas, it wasn’t to be.

Candyman is my favourite horror film, and Mr Todd holds a special place in my heart for portraying one of the most sympathetic villains in horror cinema. Your name will truly be written on a thousand walls… I’m just sorry I didn’t get my book published while you were still with us. RIP Tony Todd

If I could create any physical media box set and choose the theme?

A Zombie Anthology that contains every horror that was marketed as a sequel to Zombi (aka Dawn of the Dead), complete with booklets, a documentary on the phenomenon, and bespoke slipcovers to tailor how you want to display them.

“What’s the horror movie that got you into horror?”

Without a doubt, CRITTERS. The film I have the earliest memory of watching when I was just 5. Still vividly remember the nightmare I had, where a Crite burst out of our microwave and chowed down on my arm. Woke up with pins & needles. Fun times 😁
