It's usually manager types who say things like that - the people who have the power to hire workers. So it's really saying "I don't value human work and connections enough to pay for it."

It's my little rant against generative AI: how the companies stole artwork for training yet don't pay the artists a penny for it, and the marketing that assumes we're all lazy and hate doing our jobs in an attempt to get us to buy in.
