As a male survivor of an abusive M/F relationship it's pretty bad there too. If not for the support of a real therapist and decent people in my life I could have easily fallen down that hole.

It's definitely not okay in most instances, but I did secretly record my ex a few times just so I would have some proof of her pattern of abuse. And thank god I did, and I recommend anyone else in that situation to do so, but don't reveal it unless necessary and you are well away and safe.
