Perhaps for a cycle but certainly not in the long term.

A good team will maintain long term holdouts which are resilient to short term growth hacks (big click targets and white space clicks revert to the mean).

From lived experience:

Meta’s (much reviled) PSC culture is a force against this.

This balance is unstable because people figure out how to exploit the algorithm and needs to be retuned.

Ranked feeds are inevitable because they work.

Allowing people to tune their own algorithm maybe nice but frankly it’s too much work.

There is a balance between discovery (new unconnected content) and depth (strictly connected content)

Perhaps a minority opinion but I thought memegen was extremely toxic. Started as a general fun idea and quickly became a source of bad memes and toxicity at TGIF
