23. The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley

Written in a split timeline/multi POV style, a group of old friends who have all outgrown each other stay at a remote lodge in Scotland for New Years.
One of them is murdered and secrets are slowly unraveled.

I liked the short chapters and pacing

22. A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay

A 14 y.o girl starts showing signs of either schizophrenia orrrr demon possession. Written from the POV of her 8 y.o sister as the family turns to the church (and by extension a reality tv show?) for guidance and an eventual exorcism.

21. My year of rest and relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh

If the sound of a light coma sounds refreshing you might relate to the unnamed protagonist.
Battling grief and depression, she finds an ethically questionable psychiatrist to prescribe any and all sleeping aids to pass a whole year #booksky

20. Vengeful by V. E Schwab

Overall I enjoyed this duology (though not as much as I loved Schwab's Addie LaRue)
Two sociopathic college students unlock the secret to developing superhuman powers, both believing themselves to be the hero of the story while also being serial killers?

19. Vicious by V. E Schwab

I've been in a huuuuuge reading slump. My brain has been fried throughout a high stress period.

But I finished this one a while ago and I'm half way through the second.

Enjoying this duo far more than the shades of magic, but I will eventually complete that series too

18. A gathering of shadows by V. E Schwab

The second book of darker shade of magic.

I like to hold my opinion on series until Ive completed them, so far I am enjoying these, buut am finding it a smidge over hyped. It's good, but hasn't put me in a chokehold like others have said .. yet. One left 👀

17. The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood

I finally feel ready to watch the show buuuut I couldn't do that without reading the book first.

Felt uncomfortably possible given the trajectory the world is moving in. They've already taken away women's health and reproductive rights.

16. Stone Blind by Natalie Haynes

I read the majority of this one out loud on tiktok which was fun but it stopped me from chewing through it at my regular pace.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

15. A darker shade of magic by V. E Schwab

I've been pretty ADHD with my reading and have multiple books on the go, but finished this one last night and enjoyed it.

The characters are multi faceted weirdos, I like the way the magic/worlds are set up, curious to see where the series goes

14. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue

I looooved this book.

Cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets and unable to leave any permanent mark on the world as a cruel hidden twist to her deal with the devil, Addie thrives out of spite.

A cosy fantasy, really enjoyable. Do recommend.

No I won't advertise your shitty online gambling services.

Side note: they've gotta be scraping at the bottom of the barrel to hit me up for paid Instagram advertising when it's been over a year since I've even posted a photo there outside of story uploads.

13. Babel by R. F Kuang

I think this one solidified for me that Rebecca Kuang is my favourite author.

I looooooved the use of footnotes, and as someone who finds word etymology quite interesting I could not put this book down.

A soul destroying read.
