turns out the answer to "why is this area much much much harder than previous areas and honestly a bit meaner?" is once again "because the difficulty is supposed to signal to me that i should be coming back later since this is a dead end right now". again.

but here two completely separate caves that are long enough for you to lose track of which way is north end up joining up later and there's a very clear moment of rediscovery

the moments in these games where you can piece together the spacial relationship of two seemingly separate areas is always my favorite. bb doesn't have a whole lot of that since a lot of it is spent outside and you're generally aware of where you are

oh come on they weren't *that* bad. like i can imagine that if you've built towards like. something with a super long startup/endlag but if you figure out what's going on you really shouldn't be getting beaten to a pulp.

there is a much safer way to get down to that hole and you WILL die if you fall from this height into that hole and the cutscene doesn't play because you've already seen it but i did somehow manage to do this totally on purpose mhm yep

we're doing the right stuff to end it (in some endings)) or if i'm doing these things because i'm the chosen one (other people are here for totally unrelated reasons and im 'fated' to be the one to ring the bells and stuff)

well. there isn't a shortcut. but it turns out that when you lose connection from the server the messages from other players that may point out areas you should investigate stop appearing. and i didnt even need it because i beat iron golem first try once i fought it today 👍
