I feel like 1.21.1 is a glimpse of a modding renaissance. Not only we are moving to Neoforge which is like a new journey, many of really popular mods from 1.7.10 that never made it past it suddenly came back to 1.21.1 and also you can use Sodium with big mods which is something I would never imagine

The game will probably happen in distant future, so that they can exist independently just like hl1 and 2 were. The intro would probably be unique, perhaps Gordon having a nightmare of what happen in the ending of EP2 with Gman suddenly "nudging" it to follow HLA instead.

This mod is amazing even by default and then if you decide to customize it to your liking or to your modpack theme then is insanely good
