At our London site, one of our Large Object Volunteers has been busy giving the suspended Percival Mew Gull its annual clean.

This iconic aircraft is famous for Alex Henshaw’s 1939 solo flight from England to Cape Town and back — 12,754 miles in a single engine aircraft!

The RAF Museum was deeply saddened by the recent passing of Flight Lieutenant John Alexander Cruickshank VC, AE at the age of 105. A modest man who declined public celebration of his achievements, this notice is shared following his private family funeral.

✈️ Squadron Leader Henry Hogan led No. 501 Sqn in the #BattleofBritain.

On 18 Sept, flying Hurricane V6620, he was hit 💥 by Bf 109 fire.

Using this handle ⏬ he deployed his parachute 🪂 and escaped unhurt.
