Rocker tray? Banana boat? In progress, on my freshly bisqued homemade slump mold.

A sunny day in the life of a (slab-built stoneware) lidded box. Just need something to put in it.

Here's a coil-built stoneware bowl. The exterior has white engobe with gloss black glaze wiped into the texture. The interior is gloss cobalt glaze over white engobe.

13" diameter, 5" high.

I'll just use a square of the black wet/dry sandpaper, and sand it wet to cut down on dust. So I wet the pot down well, and then keep a bowl of water to keep dipping the sandpaper in. Then give it a good rinse. The sandpaper lasts forever, even if it feels smooth it still seems to work!

Coil-built stoneware cache pot fresh out of the kiln. A labor intensive surface, but I like it.

Exterior is three coats of different colored slip, sanded after bisque. Satin clear liner glaze.

A lidded box, fresh from the kiln. Handbuilt stoneware with a green glazed interior. About 12" long and 8" high. There's a quietness to these little empty chairs that I like.

Enjoying coil-building (this is today's bowl), but holy cow, it makes me appreciate slab-building. Slabs are so much faster! But there is something meditative about a slow process. So no complaints.

Making a divided stoneware bowl. First time trying it, so it was a little bit of a rodeo!

The clay I use for all my square stuff is a sculpture clay, full of sand and grog. I had a feeling it wasn't plastic enough to make coil pots with, but gave it a try. It made me work up a sweat!

Well, the garden had its spring peak. Some things are just about bloomed out; some are just firing up.

Daylilies, hydrangea, garden phlox, Asiatic lilies, yarrow, campanula and daisies will come in as summer gets here. Zinnia seeds are sprouting; they'll take us all the way to fall.

Working on a little coil-built bucket form with a...what does a potter call this edge? Deckle edge in paper, live edge in wood. Hmm.

Coil-building myself a new oatmeal bowl (after I broke my favorite one by another potter) was certainly an exercise in tedium. 😑😅 Hat's off to all you coil-builders out there.
