Most of the artists I’ve worked with reply to emails and let me know, or are proactive and ping me if the timeline is getting close (vastly prefer the proactive route). Totally understand life happens, and I don’t typically commission to a real world deadline, so extending timelines is stress free

As a client, I have had to request 2 refunds. One through Paypal after being ghosted by an artist - literally never heard back, even after PayPal refunded the money. Another from an artist who didn’t stick to their timeline and also didn’t respond to emails until after I filed the Paypal refund form

I do software, but hopefully still helpful: the main thing that impacts the price now that commissions aren’t my livelihood is how fun I think the project sounds (I quote a price range and have a very clear breakdown of what they’re getting as part of that).
