Santa Cruz County has the same opportunity with our publicly owned rail corridor.
If we choose to use it well, it can bring these benefits here too.

It shows that modern rail isn’t only about getting from point A to point B. It supports local businesses, makes weekend trips easier, strengthens community gathering spaces, and gives people real choices in how they move around.
Trains have returned to this North Bay town. It's the perfect time to visit
This Bay Area town channeled English beauty and housed German POWs. Right now it’s full of holiday charm and accessible by train for the first time in 67 years.

It is great to see our local history recognized nationally and a reminder of what this corridor could mean for our future.

If you believe in a future with Rail & Trail and you want this work to continue, this is a great day to support it. Even a few dollars helps a small group like ours show up at meetings, push projects forward, and make sure our community’s voice is heard.

Without alternatives, traffic keeps getting heavier and the cost of maintenance keeps climbing.
The rail corridor gives us a straight, efficient right of way that takes pressure off the roads and gives people real options. Investing in this now saves us money in the long run.

If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, this is a great time to take that step. And if supporting from afar works better for you, a small donation helps us keep doing the work.

Our progress has always come from community energy, not a big budget or a big staff — just people in Santa Cruz County who care enough to show up.

As we head into the holidays, it’s a good moment to remember that this project moves because our community moves it.

This has never been about what Santa Cruz County “can’t afford.”
It’s about what we choose to prioritize.

Every $1 invested in public transportation generates $5 in economic activity.

And those dollars fund real local union jobs — people in our own community doing skilled, good-paying work.
