WTF-Before Donald Trump took office in January 2017, the average U.S. tariff rate on Chinese imports was around 3% to 4%, with some variation depending on the product category, As of today, the effective tariff rate on imports from China is around 30%. Which you pay not China

just a reminder, The 90-day tariff pause officially ended on July 9, 2025, and the new tariff rates are set to go into effect on August 1, 2025,
And the percentage of tariffs from different countries are all over the place, something you need to Google yourself, because it boggles the mind.

Another ramification of the chaotic tariff situation is shipping companies are cancelling sailings from China. One shipping company alone (HLS Group) has already cancelled 80 sailings since the reciprocal tariffs went into effect on 04-05.
